Greg Siofer delivers yet another captivating installment of Nairb’s Stories with The Question: Book 2. Still in mourning due to his beloved wife Grace’s death and chased by law enforcement, Nairb finds sanctuary in his friend Jim’s cabin. However, when cops arrive at the door, Nairb realizes that Jim’s wife, Dawna, has betrayed them, and he finds himself on the run, once again alongside Jim. They discover that a malicious entity has manipulated Dawna, and with the help of Connie and Patty, Nairb and Jim evade the clutches of the police and the shadow that refuses to leave Nairb alone. Meanwhile, Nairb continues to have visions of his deceased wife, who guides his every move. Will Grace be able to save them from the shadow?
The Question takes readers on a fascinating rollercoaster full of action, mystery, and romance. This book rarely lets anyone take a breather. The author drops the reader into the midst of the action in the very first few pages, and it’s a non-stop thrill ride from there. Greg Siofer never takes the foot off the gas pedal, keeping a brisk pace all the way through until the end. The character relationships were perhaps the most interesting parts of the narrative. Nairb’s feelings of loss and longing for his deceased wife are very well conveyed, and you can’t help but sympathize with him. I also liked the dynamic among the small group of Nairb, Jim, Dawna, Connie, and Patty. Akin to Steven Gould’s Jumper, this book will also appeal to readers of young adult superhero/sci-fi.
